mike acquired his first guitar at age 11 after many years of longing and wishing for an instrument. he played in a self taught fashion until playing classical guitar. learning from local "old timer" players, he poured his everything into becoming a player. soon he was playing weddings and many "open mic" nights.

with an menu of styles at hand he made a natural transition to bass guitar. he started writing music and was sought after by many in the local scene to lay bass tracks.

after meeting john cleghorn in late 1989 he co-founded what later came to be known as junk poets. his aggressive attitude and tongue in cheek humor has been an immeasurable asset the the band's success thus far.
